Character General Info
Name: Jack Hyde
Gender: Male
Birth Date: August 20th
Age: 300
Age Looks: 32
Hair: Black
Eyes: Red
Appearance:
Overall appearance suggests that he is a man from a different time stuck in the modern world. He is 6 feet tall, weighs 190 lbs, and underneath his clothes is extremely well-built. He has sharpened his canines to appear to be vampiric, and wears black sunglasses when out in the day.
He wears a simple black suit with a maroon and black striped tie, black dress pants, and shiny black dress shoes. On his lapel is a rather out-of-place blue rose, which appears to be freshly picked, even though it should have been long dead by now; now matter what happens to him, it will never leave its place above his heart.
Personality: Hyde can easily go from a very sane, very intelligent individual, to a very insane, yet very intelligent, killer. Inspired by his knowledge of horror and history, he commits his murders based on famous scenes from famous various horror sources, as well as historic deaths and tragedies.
Unusually, he has also followed the flow of modern music through his life, and is currently infatuated with electronica. However, whenever he commits a crime, he always leaves classical music playing, as his signature of sorts.
In the presence of other villains, he is very well-mannered. He sees most of Gotham's horror-creators as like-minded and intelligent, especially the Scarecrow and the Joker.
Family: Maria and William Hyde (parents, deceased)
Background:
Born Jack Maximilian Hyde, he was raised in a simple log cabin in the woods outside of Gotham by Maria and William Hyde. His father worked for the Wayne family for many years before being implicated in the murder of a young woman in the slum of Gotham and fired, even though he turned out to be innocent. When Jack turned 18, he made a deal with the Devil so that he could revenge on the Wayne family by becoming very wealthy and gaining super strength, but at the cost of his parents' lives: he agreed whole-heartedly to the deal, despite his love for his mother and father.
Upon turning 30, Jack was living comfortably in a mansion which stood on the grounds of the old log cabin. Over the last 12 years he had been roaming the world, collecting works of the occult, trying to learn the secrets of immortality through mankind's pleasure with being afraid. Now, he had just discovered the secret's origins in scrolls taken from Arabia, and learned of the need for a soul to use the art. Furious, he knew he needed to take souls from Gotham's citizens in order to live forever.
His first murder was a young boy, of all people. The boy had asked for room and board, that he was abandoned by his parents. His reward was a night in the mansion with all the food and drink he needed, and in the morning a breakfast of the gods. After breakfast, he was "accidentally" impaled on a fire-poker, his soul taken, and his body disposed of. However, mentally, Hyde was heart-broken; the boy reminded him of his younger self. It was this single death that led him to insanity, and would lead to his "gimmick deaths".
His most recent death was of a very influential horror author, Alexander Queen, who publicly dismissed a rival's novel for being "atrocious". This rival turned out to be Jack. When police found the body, the author was in bed, with two stab wounds in his neck. Since Batman's disappearance, the deaths have increased extremely, to the point where Hyde has been killing just to appease his sanity.

Enemy Code Name: The Goth
Powers/abilities:
Occult Magic: Hyde remains alive for so long due to using occult magic to maintain his existence, given to him many years ago by Arab scholars. He continues to crave more occult knowledge, so that he can continue to remain immortal: he kills people to take their souls and prevent the aging process from starting. He uses the magic in battle as well, making people's fears come alive to haunt them. The fears can be prevented by simply blindfolding oneself, as they are based on the target's ability to see, and can only be used on anyone in a 100 foot radius around him. Using the fear costs Hyde one month off his immortality. He also has regeneration while in the immortal state, much like Wolverine and Deadpool. The regeneration is gradual, however; wounds that would be fatal to an average human can be healed in a matter of days.
Bullet wounds = 2-3 days
Explosion damage, large wounds = 4-6 days
The exception to this rule is severed limbs or even a severed head: as long as the limb or head can be grabbed again and placed onto its original position, it will quickly heal back in place, in the right direction. Because of accidents around Hyde Mansion, visitors have been known to run away screaming, seeing Mr. Hyde's body walking around the house, looking for his head.
Super Strength: Despite his appearance, he is extremely strong, but this is due to selling his soul to the Devil, for the price of his parents' lives. This would lead to his downfall later in life, when he discovered the secret of immortality, but learned that in order to remain immortal, the user must have a soul. At maximum, he can lift 2 tons, carry it for at least 1 hour with minor difficulty, and toss it only a few feet in necessary.
Robotic Minions: Having accumulated a mass amount of knowledge and wealth over the last 300 years, Hyde built 3 robotic minions who aid him around his home: a butler who looks like Edgar Allan Poe, a chauffeur who looks like H.P. Lovecraft, and a maid who looks like Mary Shelley.
Strengths: Super strength, high intelligence, cannot die as long as he has a soul.
Weaknesses: Souls he captures will eventually die by themselves, which means that the immortality is only temporary, at most 6 months. The maximum number of souls he can hold are 10, 9 of which are stored in his body for safe keeping. They can can also be kept in special jars to keep them "fresh". The possibility of overloading on souls is not likely; only souls he personally choses will be entered into his body. When he uses magic, however, for each usage the stored souls lose their value by a whole time period: months become weeks, weeks become days, days become hours, hours become minutes. This means he needs to collect more fresh souls, or else discard the ones he has stored. The discarding process is extremely painful, the point where he can lose consciousness.

Sample RP:
"It was April in Gotham, as my grandfather clock struck thirteen. Oh, poor poor Gotham. Your Batman has left his perch, and what are you to do? Nothing. Why? Because you fear us...you fear what you cannot see, what you cannot feel. But you can taste fear, on your breath when you wake up in the morning to go to work. You can kiss your wives and children and exit your homes, walk down your streets to work and begin a day of toil and never-ending torment. Why? Because you are dull, you are weak-minded...and your only savior...is gone."
Jack Hyde let out a cackling laugh as he peered out the window of his bedroom, looking out towards the bustling city. "Oh, Gotham, how have changed since my youth. It is very lucky I was able to get tips on how to find the lowest of your low-lifes from Mr. Ripper. At least I have more souls to pick from...and better music to listen to...." Hyde inserted a CD labeled 'My Theme...How Delightful It Is to Be Rich' into a elaborate gold and silver box attached to the wall. As the music started playing, Hyde yawned.
"Time for bed, I suppose. Another day of immortality....and needless deaths. Maybe from me...who knows?"
