Character General Info
Name: Harleen Frances Quinzel
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 11th of September
Age: Mid twenties to early thirties (you don’t expect a lady to tell now do ya? Sheesh… the nerve of some people)
Age Looks: mid twenties
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Blue
Appearance:
Harley is a sweet little package at 5'3" and 115lbs. Her face boasts rounded features, full lips, and big expressive blue eyes which give her a bit of a baby face. But even the slightest glance past her face shows Harley for the woman she is. She is slender and toned with all the right curves in the right places in just such a way that suggests some vroom to her va-voom. Scattered across her pale skin (and generally covered by clothing) is a myriad of subtlety healed scars and bruises if you know just the right places to look. She tends to keep these to herself, however, as they serve as keepsake reminders of “playtime” with the Joker. Harley’s long blonde hair is almost always in pigtails. She is also a fan of duel messy buns for when she needs to keep her hair out of the way. From time to time she’ll try a new look, dying the underside of her hair or the tips of her pigtails- always her right side black and the left red. When such a rare occasion occurs as that calls for Harley’s “serious face”, she will tuck her hair into the very neatest of buns at the base of her neck.
A lady with her own sort of style and a serious sense of fun, Harley dresses for the occasion. She leans on her favorite pallet of red, black and white; but will also occasionally include purple (a nod to her Puddin’s favorite color) or pink if she’s feeling particularly girly. Be it her fun and flirty harlequin styled body suit, business-mode piece-worked leather biker pants and corsets, or a sun dress fit for the shore, Harley is always dressed to impress. She is adept at disguise in a way that fits in, but stands out for all the best reasons. She needs to always look her best for Mr. J, after all.
Last but not least, and although not a physical trait with visual components, is Harley’s voice. It has a distinct sound with a Brooklyn accent and fluctuating pitch that lends a raw earthiness to Harley whenever she opens her mouth (which is perhaps more often than she should).
Personality:
It can be easy to dismiss Harley as a dumb, bubbly blonde. She can appear almost childish at times, and has a particular type of quirkiness that belongs to the delusional insane. She’s the sort of girl who knows how to party and sports a killer (ha!) sense of humor. She is happiest when with her beloved Joker. He is the only thing she really wants... and boy, does this girl want him.
Obsessive beyond the point of repair, Harley loves her Puddin come hell or high water (which with the Joker you can safely bet they will). The most dangerous place one can be in relation to Harley is between her and the Joker. She will not hesitate to point a cannon at anything or anyone that gets in her way. Any risk Harley runs by being involved with such a mad man she dismisses as "all in good fun". Despite systematic abuse she keeps going back for more, like a drug she cannot do without. One which, when she gets her fix, maintains her manic leveled highs and erases the pains associated with getting it.
Ultimately, Harley’s paradise is a fickle one. The Joker can take things too far or neglect her just enough for her to start questioning her place with him. She strikes out on her own to prove herself or get revenge. Frequently during these times she will spend time with Poison Ivy, nursing her ego and evaluating her situation. A little “girl power” tends to put the smile right back on Harley’s face. But, no matter how independent Harley becomes, she consistently regresses to her obsessive state and returns to the Joker for some reason or another.
Harley’s post as Joker’s #1 hench-wench is something she takes great pride in. She is surprisingly adept at it and is capable of acts as heinous as the Joker himself. While she does not have his level of intelligence, she is capable of holding her own. She is quick on her feet, charming, improvises well, and doesn’t hesitate to utilize every asset available to her (which can be anything from womanly wiles to explosives). Her empathy and understanding of psychology provide her with insight into others; even despite the fact that she is helplessly ill equipped to use such tools on herself.
Family:
Mother: Sharon Quinzel, mid fifties. Bipolar housewife and mother of two
Father: Nicolas Quinzel, late fifties, con-man, currently incarcerated
Brother: Barry Quinzel, mid thirties, unemployed (the bum)
Niece: Jenny Quinzel, eight (occupation: adorable)
Background:
Dr. Harleen Quinzel got where she is today through ambition. She had a small start in Brooklyn with a dysfunctional family which she was determined to rise above. Her father was a con-man perpetually in and out of jail. Her mother was harsh, albeit loving, in her ever fluctuating state of mental health. She lacked the confidence to really strike out into the world and often her depression was a weight on those around her. Harley's older brother was, in her eyes, effectively useless- he could never hold down a job for long and seemed content to live at their mother’s house forever. Harley on the other hand was happy to be out of the house as much as possible, and as such was very active in school. It was the only place her mother approved of, so Harley took full advantage. She was on dance committees, stayed for after school study sessions, and let her everyday frustrations out in gymnastics. Harley was the kind of girl that was doing everything right, mostly on her own, and who had a bright future.
She attended Gotham University; relying on her scholarship to fund the education (her father and brother had run the family finances into the ground, including any savings for her education). Harley treated college like a job- she never missed gymnastics, studied hard, and networked with faculty and students alike. Her efforts paid off, and earned her an internship with Arkham Asylum in her final year. Extreme personalities intrigued her, and the fame and fortune that could follow assessing them was a tidy and calculated bonus for her efforts. After multiple requests and some well applied persuasion she gained access to her prize: counseling sessions with the Joker.
Harley went into the first session with every preparation she could think of, but it simply wasn’t enough. She left it flabbergasted. Over the course of their time together Harley developed feelings for her patient. It was so gradual that Harley didn’t even realize it was happening. First there was an appreciation of his intellect and humor. This was followed by concern for his well being and happiness. By the time Harley realized she had fallen in love with him there was nothing she could do to stop it. Inappropriate though it was, Harley couldn’t help herself. The Joker was the most interesting man she had ever met. She felt a connection with him she had never known before. He understood her. In his bewitching madness he knew a freedom she ached for and he promised to share with her, if she wanted it. Up until that day Harley had been used to getting what she wanted. And now she wanted him. She wanted to know him in a way that no one else ever could. She wanted to know the secret behind his smile. Harley took what she wanted once again, helped the Joker escape, and started her journey down the rabbit hole.
With the Joker Harley found the thrill of crime, the release of violence, and the joy of living in a world that no one else could ever fully enter. She was smitten by its razor edged rushes of laughter and intimacy. Even on the darkest days, when she recalls what it was like to be a ‘normal’ person, she cannot truly miss that life. The Joker gave her purpose in laughter, showed her how to cut loose in reckless abandon, and made her feel alive in ways she had never before dreamed possible. In return she would give him her love. Forever.
Over their years together Harley has expanded her resume of crime, rubbed elbows with the rouge's gallery, and slipped ever so obviously into the depths of insanity. It isn't always roses, but there is always laughter to be found.
Character Info
Code Name: ahhahaha *snort* haha! Ahem… er.. None needed.
Enemy Code Name: Harley Quinn
Powers/abilities:
Toxic Immunity:
Thanks to some help from gal pal Poison Ivy, Harley is immune to poisons and toxins of a wide variety. This allows her to play freely with both Ivy and her Puddin without having to worry about inverse side effects.
Increased Physical Attributes:
Another benefit to Ivy’s inoculation, Harley has moves that are just outside the parameter of an Olympic athlete’s reach. This affects her speed, agility, strength, and flexibility. It also grants her a small bonus in healing injuries and sickness.
Strengths:
Gymnastics/Combat:
Harley is a trained gymnast with advanced capabilities. The maneuvers granted to her with this are incorporated into her fighting style.
Ambidextrous:
Harley is adept with both of her hands, and is frequently found sporting multiple weapons.
Weapons Proficiency:
You don’t get far in the crime biz without learning how to handle a few toys. See the list below for details.
Bludgeoning Tools- This is Harley’s weapon category of choice. Most notable are an oversized mallet and baseball bats. She also can improvise similar weapons easily, fully familiar with what strength and weight is needed in an object for it to be effective.
Pop gun- Harley’s favorite gun has changeable facets that are front loaded. It can be fitted with an oversized cork or boxing glove which do damage like blunt objects, but hit with much more force. There are various chemical cartridges created by the Joker for Harley’s use including: smoke, oil slick, Joker Venom, acid, and liquid nitrogen. The force of impact causes the caps to burst on contact, releasing the various things inside. It can also be loaded with flares, a tazer, pie canisters, confetti, and a “bang” flag. Harley rarely carries all of this ammunition, mostly because keeping them organized is a problem onto itself.
Guns- Harley can make her way around most guns. While far from an expert, she has a working knowledge of them. She knows which end is dangerous, how to perform basic maintenance, and is familiar with the kickback of larger firearms. She prefers smaller pistols for this reason (especially when double wielded) as they allow her to move more easily. Her aim is good, but missing a target aggravates her and causes her accuracy to steadily decline. It is usually after this happens that Harley pulls out the big guns- literally. The more annoyed she is, the bigger the weapon will be. The largest gun Harley wields at any time is a rocker launcher.
Grenades- Small, compact, they make things go “boom”. An essential in any lady’s bag of tricks.
Explosives- Harley has a limited knowledge of explosives. She can identify them easily (she sees enough of them), and is familiar with their damage range and the components needed for proper bomb construction (although she couldn’t put one together herself or properly disarm one in her dizziest day dreams).
Psychoanalyst:
Although her license was revoked after her own term in Arkham, it didn’t remove Harley’s knowledge. Prior to meeting the Joker, Harley was at the top of her class and won a competitive internship at Arkham Asylum. This clinical knowledge paired with her own empathy gives her insight into others. Her own *ahem* personal working knowledge of madness doesn’t hurt either. However, like most psychologists, Harley is terrible at handling her own disorders and due to her delusions has been known to make mistakes in judgement regarding the Joker as well.
Weaknesses:
Over Emotional:
Harley’s heart is a roller coaster ride that could make anyone dizzy. This instability severely affects her abilities- sometimes rendering them useless.
Obsession:
Harley’s obsession for the Joker puts her into danger in a wide variety of ways. It clouds her judgement, gives her little regard for her personal safety, leaves her emotionally exposed, and triggers manic behavior.
Big Mouth
Harley has a habit of letting her mouth get ahead of her when she's over excited. This can lead to her seeming inappropriate at times and sometimes it also leaks bits of plans that should instead be kept secret. Harley is quick to say what is on her mind, and paired with the girlish Brooklyn sound of her voice it often makes her sound less intelligent than she actually is, causing her conversational contributions to be easily overlooked.

Other Info
You may notice that my Harley Quinn is a little less cartoony than her original counterpart. This is in part because I am interested in playing her with more depth. My favorite part of Batverse villains is their psychological complexity. Rather than ignoring her ambition and brains pre-Joker, I plan on showing how they can contribute to her personality after she descends into madness. Never fear though, she'll still have plenty of bounce!
Anything else you'd like to add: Whipped cream and a cherry on top.
Will you be active?: Yep. I stalk this place.
Do you Agree should you become Inactive you will have your Character Removed from the Roleplay?: Surely. Everyone should get a fair turn.
Sample RP:
Harley hummed a cheery tune as she worked, the sound just a bit off as her tongue poked out from one corner between her lips. She leaned close to the table, carefully drawing a red smile in frosting with a piping bag across the round, smooth surface of a cookie. It was one of the many covering the surface of the kitchen table. But it was the last one. Harley leaned back to admire her work, a pair of blonde buns bobbing on either side of her head. They were the only thing that escaped the sticky sweetness that marred the now disheveled kitchen.
Harley slipped off her apron and absent mindedly went to lick her fingers, but stopped just shy of her lips. "Whoospie. Gatta remember not ta eat the merchandise." She giggled to herself. Given her resistance to toxins the stuff probably wouldn't hurt her but it was better to play it safe than sorry. She rinsed her hands in the sink instead, continuing her song as she did so.
The counter was stacked with white boxes, each contained a baker's dozen of the smiling snacks, and was tied shut with a purple ribbon. Harley grabbed an empty box and returned to the table, swatting away the encroaching noses of Bud and Lou. "Quit it, will ya? These are daddy's treats for the dentist convention. Sides' " she huffed "You'll get all sick on the rug again like last time." The hyenas wagged their tails, mouths watering eagerly and then abruptly turned towards the door with a growl.
Harley looked at the uninvited guest and grinned. "Huh. Whadda ya know? Looks like you get a treat after all. SICK 'EM BABIES!" Harley finished her words with all the harsh fury of a Valkyrie. As the hyenas made a rabid dash for the intruder Harley grabbed a flour and frosting smudged rolling pin and gave it a test swing into the palm of her still sticky and poisonous hand.
