Character General Info
Name: Detective Harvey Bullock
Gender: Male
Birth Date: April 24, 1970, Leo baby!
Age: 42
Age Looks: Yeah, uh, Harvey looks his age, maybe even a little older on a bad day.
Hair: Thick and Black, ‘cause that’s what the Gotham ladies like. Oh wait, that sounds a little crass.
Eyes: Brown
Appearance: Harvey’s no small man, by any means. Nowadays he was a little less wide than he used to be. He stands at towering 6’2” and a solid 230lbs. His shoulders are broad and his hands calloused. He has his fair share of scar tissue.
Harvey is not what one would call a ‘fashionista.’ He really hasn’t changed his wardrobe much in the last 15 or 20 years, to be perfectly honest. He is usually seen to be wearing leather shoes, dark slacks, dark leather belt, an off white short sleeved oxford, and usually a terribly chosen tie if not a solid colored one.
He never leaves home without a trenchcoat, either black, gray, or brown, which is as colorful as it gets with Harvey. He is rarely seen without a fedora that matches the color of his coat. It is only on a very hot day, or during an intense fire fight when you will see him without a coat.
Personality:
Harvey’s a rather ‘abrasive’ personality to those that don’t understand his jargon so well. He is well known for a no nonsense attitude and low tolerance for bullshit. He has a very robust, playful, and sarcastic sense of humour among his friends and colleagues at Gotham City Police Department. Of all things though, Harvey is diligently dedicated to his work. Nothing could ever compromise his sense of duty or personal responsibility, or integrity. He’s the kind of guy that grits his teeth instead of biting his tongue and rubs his hands together in anticipation walking out to his squad car.
Harvey is a good man, however, he has made mistakes too, big ones. Nothing he ever did was with bad intent though, sometimes shit just happens…
Family: Mother- Delilah Bullock, deceased. Father- George Bullock, deceased. Sisters- Gretchen Holloway-40, Susan Douglas-36, Laverne Bullock-28
Background:
Harvey grew up in the slums of Gotham City. His parents divorced when he was fourteen and less than a year after his baby sister Laverne was born. He and his sisters were raised by his mother with their father in and out of the scene. Harvey, moved and saddened by the state of his native land, his beloved Gotham and concerned about the safety of the women in his life joined the police academy. He went on beat after graduating with honors. To this day he is one of the few high ranking officers with no college degree. In his first year as a police officer he met Lt. James Gordon. They both had concurred on an extreme and harboring rage against the corruption and dirty dealings going on in GCPD.
By the age of twenty eight, Bullock had become detective working under Gordon. For many years he worked with Detective Renee Montoya at his side, who, outside of Gordon, is his closest and dearest friend. They have been through enough together to consider each other siblings.
Harvey's career as a Gotham City Detective came to an abrupt end when an internal affairs investigation revealed that Bullock tipped off some criminals to the whereabouts of a former testifying witness against them who had shot James Gordon. Bullock resigned before the department had a chance to fire him. He was binge drinking for a year until helping GCPD solve a horrific murder case he had thought Penguin had been behind, but it turned out to be Mad Hatter. In a moment of unfathomable sorrow Harvey nearly took his own life after personally confronting penguin only to be stopped by GCPD detectives who revealed to him what really happened. They had to wrestle the gun out of Harvey’s hand, which was a tall order in itself.
After a six month period of court ordered counseling Harvey was asked back on board by Gordon. Initially, internal affairs tried to block the reinstatement of Harvey, however his record, clearance from his counselor, and recommendation letters from his colleagues at GCPD ensured his return. He has been back at it for the last few years and Gotham ain’t never gonna want him to leave.
Character Info
Harvey is a tremendous movie buff, which shouldn’t be surprising for someone who looks like a character from an old black and white flick. His favorite movies are Metropolis, Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Vertigo, The Outlaw Josey Wales among many others. He also has a weakness for blondes, they melt his little Harvey heart. He was once married to a brunette and only finished paying off his alimony a few years ago, thus Harvey is single and intends to stay unmarried. Dating he rarely does, but he does like to look, of course. One of his favorite activities on a dull night at work is to go work ‘security’ at the Gotham Opera and Gotham Theatre just to watch a few pretty dames walk by in their expensive furs.
Harvey sleeps with a bat under his bed, knife under his pillow, and his pistol on his nightstand. Being in this line of work Harvey has made a few enemies, respectively. He is thought to be a little paranoid by some of his underlings and peers, but no one denies that he has good reason to be.
All of Harvey’s sisters have moved away from Gotham. His oldest sister, Gretchen, he hasn’t spoken to since he graduated from the police academy. Susan lives comfortably in Metropolis, married to an oil tycoon. His youngest (and favorite) sister, Laverne, is a decorated Marine Corps Military Police Officer. She is currently overseas so when Harvey does hear from her it’s usually very early in the morning without warning, but Harvey answers the call no matter what and talks to her for the few minutes she is afforded to call him. He and all his sisters have their mother’s black hair and unimpressed attitude.
Code Name: Det. Harvey Bullock, formerly known as Bishop in a secret government organization known as Checkmate.
Enemy Code Name: None
Powers/abilities:
Harvey has no ‘powers’ however he is an excellent interrogator. Part of this excellence comes from the fact that Harvey is a very intimidating man. He is known for not always going about things ‘by the book’ so on occasion a perp might be a little gruff if Harvey was their arresting officer. Harvey, though he may be big, can handle his own in a fight whether it be fists or guns. He’s got some force behind those fists and some firepower in his pistol. Heh, how ya doin’ ladies?
Strengths:
Interrogation, Marksman, Hand to Hand, and (obviously) detective work.
Weaknesses:
Good Movies, Tasty Donuts, Beautiful Ladies.
Other than that it should be standard stuff that most of the human race is weak to.
Affiliation:
Gotham City Police Department
Other Info

Sample RP:
It was a typical Gotham night, with the typical Gotham smell in the typical Gotham rain, and Harvey loved it. This was his town, his beat and any two-bit thug he'd come across knew that. He drove his 1965 Impala through the streets on his way to a crime scene. Which lunatic did something evil to an innocent resident of this fine city he didn't know, but just a glance would tell him.
The wipers swished back & forth and his radio hummed the low tune of Sinatra when a body slammed into his car, rolled over the hood and kept running, "Ey!" He hit his brakes and flew out of his car giving a little growl as he spotted the dent on his hood before he was chasing after the guy, "You dented my car, Creep!" He knew the alley the man ran down had no exits so he slowed his pace and entered the alley slowly, "Where you at? What you runnin' from?"
Bullock found him hiding behind a dumpster curled up shivering in fear. It was just a kid. Harvey pulled out his badge and flashed it, "What'd you steal?" The kid who was soaked from the rain wore black and with a dark complexion shook his head unable to speak. The rotund detective sighed and put his badge away, "A'ight then why are you running?" Then he saw the shadow.
It...flew by quickly just quick enough to be spotted but the sound the awful shreak that came from it as it circled around is how Bullock found his gun in his hand drawn before he even realized it. He looked skyward in the wet darkness. the rain hitting him in the face made it harder to see. It flew at him bellowing out an painful ear piercing howl. Harvey exploded a few rounds from his gun, one bullet hitting his target enough to throw it off course as it slammed into the wall with a scream and climbed in flight to the sky.
It was a typical Gotham night, with the typical Gotham smell in the typical Gotham rain, "I hate this town."
