Dick Grayson

March 21st
Age:
32
Age Looks:
28
Hair:
Soot Black, Medium Length Black Hair that falls down to his shoulders, and is often pulled backwards

Steel Blue
Appearance:
Physique: Dick Grayson stands at a decent height of 6 feet tall, weighing a solid 175 pounds. His physique is solid and athletic, covered in numerous scars that serve as a reminder to him of his previous confrontations upon taking the mantle of Nightwing.
Costume: His suit is made of a version of the Nomex fire-resistant, triple-weave Kevlar-lined material. It is an excellent protection against damage, and it's also electrically insulated. Instead of a black cape for stealthing, the suit is light sensitive, darkening when there is more light in the area. His current costume sports a stylized blue "wing" across his shoulders and extending to his hands, coloring his two middle fingers, over a black torso and legs. Nightwing's costume is tailored specifically to his unique style of crime-fighting. As such, his costume has fewer body-armor inlays than Batman's, anticipating a decreased need for shock-absorption and an increased capacity for motion. ("Move more, get hit less.") A caveat of this configuration can be exploited by capable fighters who are both fast and strong. Should Nightwing need to engage an enemy who is capable of exploiting this weakness, he has supplemental body-armor overlays which he can attach to his gauntlets, mask, shoulders, and boots.
The mask, in the form of his symbol, is fixed in place with spirit gum, and includes a built-in radio transmitter/receiver and Starlight night-vision goggles.
Personality:
Dick Grayson's mentality has undergone major changes as he has grown older, yet the fundamental personality traits he has possessed have remained roughly the same. While his mentor Batman has a more serious nature, Dick is a little more carefree, looking at his duty of crimefighting as an entertaining public service instead of a sworn duty. Also, while Batman had become more antisocial upon losing his parents, using it as a means for vengeance, Dick has taken the loss of his parents, in turn turning it into a means of ensuring justice is kept, so the same thing doesn't occur.
Dick is outspoken and not afraid to speak what is on his mind, allowing himself recognition as a natural born leader, also employing fine strategic tactics on the spot, in addition to maintaining quirky and witty remarks here and there, which indicates the carefree and joyous nature he had as Robin is still there, although not nearly as evident.
Though he may be an accomplished hero, Dick does take his losses seriously, blaming himself should something happen to his allies and occasionally doubting whether or not he is capable of truly providing the city the services it needs, giving his personality a bit of a darker, colder edge forged from his failures. This part of Dick is often shown in the allies with whom he had forged deep intimate connections with, often adding to the inner turmoil.
Family:
John Grayson [Father, deceased]
Mary Grayson [Mother, deceased]
Bruce Wayne [Father - Adopted]
Alfred Pennyworth [Surrogate Father, Butler]
Jason Todd [Brother - Adopted]
Timothy Drake [Brother - Adopted]
Damian Wayne [Brother]
Cassandra Cain [Sister - Adopted]
Background:
Born to a family of acrobats, Dick Grayson begins his life with an exciting childhood growing up in the circus. With his parents, John and Mary Grayson, his family forms " The Flying Graysons," famed trapeze artists and acrobats.
These happy times soon take a turn for the worse, as the mafia begins targeting the circus. At eight years old, Dick witnesses mob boss Anthony Zucco threatens the circus owner, demanding insurance for the safety of his performers. The owner vehemently refuses the extortion and Dick goes along his way. Unfortunately, Zucco decides to use the headlining act, which happened to be The Flying Graysons, as an example.
As the Graysons plummet to earth, hundreds of spectators watch in horror. Among them are billionaire Bruce Wayne. Feeling empathy for the boy's loss, Bruce decides to take the boy in as his legal ward, as none of Dick's family wanted him. The major difference between Bruce and Dick is that while Bruce's swore vengeance on his parents’ grave, Dick Grayson swore justice, which helped him cope with the death better then Bruce had his own parents.
After a short while, Dick realizes what his mentor is doing all these late nights, and eventually chooses the same life as well. Bruce decides that with the boy's extensive training in acrobatics and his sense of justice, he has just what’s needed to become the Batman's partner. After rigorous training from Bruce, Robin, the Boy Wonder, is christened.
Dick enjoys his first year as Robin describing it as an adventure; he battles villains such as Mad Hatter, Penguin, Joker, Mr. Freeze, Scarecrow, and Blockbuster. However, his so-called adventure quickly turns into a hellish nightmare when Two-Face kidnaps both the new District Attorney and Batman, suspending them both from a hangman’s noose in a double gallows death trap. Batman instructs Robin to prioritize saving the D.A. He follows his orders by throwing a batarang at the noose, freeing the D.A. and therefore saving his life. Unfortunately, Two-Face’s trap is a two-parter, and the false floor below the noose gives out before Robin can get to him. Robin jumps into the water after the D.A., but Two-Face pulls him out and beats him savagely while a restrained Batman watches in horror. Batman eventually frees himself and stops Two-Face, but not before Dick is permanently scarred. This frightens Batman so much that he temporarily suspends Dick, and the event continues to haunt Dick for many years afterwards. When Dick eventually returns to crime fighting, he is much stronger and smarter than before. He later studies law at Hudson University but drops out after one term due to his responsibilities as Robin.
After several years of fighting by Batman's side, Robin decides he’s ready to fight with others his own age. Dick joins forces with Kid Flash, Aqualad, Wonder Girl, and Speedy, forming the Teen Titans. Although Robin is one of the few members of the team without traditional superpowers, he emerges as the group’s natural leader due to his experience and intelligence.
Dick's new found independence and duties with the Titans leave him with less time for his former commitments in Gotham City. Dick feels that he rediscovers his self-worth among the Teen Titans Bruce, however, is less than pleased. He informs Dick that if he no longer wants to be his partner, he’ll have to retire as Robin. Furious, hurt, and confused, eighteen year old Dick Grayson leaves Wayne Manor after this fallout. Helping him through this difficult time are his fellow Titans, including Starfire, a beautiful alien with whom Dick had fallen in love. Dick ultimately decides to hand over leadership of the Titans to Wonder Girl.
Dick realizes that he’s grown up and doesn't need Batman anymore to help him. He decides that in order to discover who he is and his place in the world, he must leave Batman’s side. Dick decides to drop his role as Robin and as the leader of the New Teen Titans.
After that, Dick embarks on a journey to find himself, which leads him to Metropolis where he meets Superman. Asking for an outside opinion on what he should do next with his life, Superman relays the story of a hero from Krypton who had been cast out by his family only to become a great hero. This hero's name was Nightwing. After a short stint in Haley's circus to clear his head, Dick takes on the name Nightwing.
As his time as a hero returned, he is attacked not as Robin but as Dick Grayson by Deathstroke the Terminator, who was hunting the Titans. Dick manages to escape and meets the ex-wife of Deathstroke and his son Joseph. After saving his teammates and defeating Terra and Deathstroke, Nightwing once again becomes the leader of the New Teen Titans, before leaving the Titans once again to establish a reputation for himself in the familiar city of Gotham..

Dick constantly seeks the approval and the recognition from his former mentor.
- Recklessness: Dick Grayson, though he has gotten better in recent years, has always been rather reckless. He has the bad habit of rushing into situations that call for planning in ahead, so he often finds himself playing into the villain's trap.
- Unrequited Passion: Nightwing has also seemed to develop interests in various teammates from time to time, most of which haven't ended well. His first interest came in the form of Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl, but was broken off after an unsteady relationship. As a member of Teen Titans, he soon took to the alien Starfire, even to the point of marrying the Tamaranian girl before the priest was murdered by fellow Titan Raven, leaving the two separated. Also while in the Titans, he had an affair with Donna Troy, who initiated him into a version of the Justice League, though their connection was closer to that of brother and sister than of lovers. Then after the defeat of the villian Blockbuster, Nightwing had an intimate encounter with Catalina Flores, while he was in an emotional state, stating that the encounter was nonconsequential on his part. Nonetheless, whenever Dick Grayson develops a love interest, catastrophe soon follows.

The sound of a truck's engine permeated through the otherwise silent night as several men hauled large crates out of a warehouse into the large semi, the heavy thud of the crate hitting the truckbed floor evident as the men exited the back of the vehicle to continue loading the truck.
Unbenounced by them, they failed to notice the figure crouched on the rooftop, silently watching them through a mask that concealed the features of his face, his long, black hair fluttering aroung his shoulders as he analyzed the situation.
It was just your typical night in Bludhaven, these individuals being just another group of thugs doing another drug run, as the vigilante's nose picked up a familiar scent. The scent of gasoline. The smell was intoxicating as Nightwing sensed something was amiss. For one, gasoline seemed to suggest more than just local druglords at work. As his eyes drifted over to some individuals standing guard near the loading area, he noticed the heat they were packing. Ak-47s, most likely fully automatic.... Not a good sign.
"Guess someone has to break these goons the bad news," the vigilante would mutter quietly to himself, as he pushed himself forward off the roof ledge. As he descended onto the loose gravel, his legs bent slightly, pushing himself off the earth, as his frame flew by the individuals, the darkened shadows masking his presence as he neared the guards. A soft click and two baton like weapons flew from the back of his costume, welcomed by his expecting hands.

Nightwing's Escrima sticks hit their mark as the guards fell into a heap onto the gravel. His appearance was marked by the disgruntled lifters as they shouted out. "Ah, shit, it's Batman. But I heard he hadn't been seen in a while." Dick didn't take the time to ponder the guards words, as his knee cracked across the temple of the nearest guy, the sharp groan indicating his target had hit home. "Wrong, care to guess again?" Nightwing would exclaim sarcastically as his aerial form took out the last of the men as he rushed into the warehouse.
Catching his breath, Dick looked around, his eyes immediately falling downwards towards his feet, the source of the smell earlier now evident as he had stepped in the liquid splashed across the warehouse floor. A new smell now coupled with the gasoline as the distinct of aroma of gunpowder mingled with that of the gasoline. A static buzz echoed through the storage facility as the warehouse gates came crashing down. A voice soon followed, jeeringly calling out the masked vigilante, laughing maniacally. "Hehehehe, you've fallen into a trap, Nightwing. I've rigged this warehouse with nearly ten tons of dynamite, which will engulf this entire warehouse in flames. I hope you enjoy dying by cremation!!!" More laughter ensued as the static buzz cut out.
The gasoline soon ignited around one of the crates, sending the box ablaze, as the flames caught these gasoline trail. Nightwing cursed under his breath as he quickly anticipated some manner of escape.
