LOOK AT YOU NOW ( look at your torn estates )TOOK FOREVER
It had been a full week since Stormy busted out of the facility Lex Luthor had her in here in Gotham. She had since acquired clothing thanks to Grey Skull. She wore a black pair of "skinny" jeans as they called them at the store. She wore a simple black shirt with a standing collar long sleeves. Her boots went up her leg about halfway up to her knee, they were steel toed ant waterproof. She also thought it would be wise to wear sunglasses as much as possible due to the nature of her eyes.
The knife Grey Skull gave her was in a leather holster and strapped around her left leg with the knife against her inner thigh to keep it from being terribly visible. She wore a black leather racing jacket and a pair of blue roses in her hand.
Stormy was at the cemetery her father was buried next to her mother. After an hour of scanning the place she finally found their shared headstone. It was made of black marble with some white here and there. Their names were above each of their respective graves. There was individual engravings and a shared quote. They Read as follows "Dr. Ira Evening, Devoted Father and Chilvarous Husband. Dr. Darla Evening, Brave Mother and Astounding Wife." The shared quote at the bottom of the headstone read, "Gotham is most beautiful when it storms."
Stormy spent a few minutes just staring at the headstone. Her father apparently dying still hadn't sunk in all the way until she saw the headstone she visited so many times as a child now adorned with his name next to her mother's. After a few minutes she sat down on the grass in front of it and placed the roses crisscrossed in the middle of the headstone. She pulled a small pen and paper from the breast pocket of her jacket and then took off her sunglasses and placed them in the breast pocket.
She began to write something down and occasionally would stop to just stare at their headstone for a minute or so. Her black hair blew in the breeze. She could hear the wings of the birds nearby and the rustle of the breeze coming thorough the trees. After a moment she finally just put her hand on the headstone, leaning toward it and looking down the the ground and then closing her eyes.
A few tears would fall to the cool grass below.

Harvey walked through the cemetery carrying a handful of wild daisies. The breeze whipped his jacket giving it a life of it's own and after catching his hat a few times as it tried to escape for freedom he held it in his other hand. He stopped before a simple gravestone, his mothers. It was plain white marble engraved with the typical name, birth and death dates. The epitaph read "Lived simple, but now soars with angels."
"Hi Ma. Sorry I haven't been by lately. Work's been crazy. I don't wanna bore you with details, but yer with me anyway so you know. Look, I brought your favorites."
He laid the flowers at the headstone and wiped off some leaves from the top of it. He stood back up, closing his eyes and said a silent prayer then opened them again.
"Well, gotta get goin'. Miss you and thanks, Ma."
He started walking away and he spied someone standing at the gravestone of Dr. Ira Evening. His memories flashed to him about the past case of their daughter. The figure was too far away to tell who they were so he walked closer to investigate being careful to make as little sound as possible.

ANYWHERE I GO( the chase )THE BELLS BELOW
Stormy was tracing her fingers along her father's name on the marble. Her little pocket sized notebook and pen laid on the ground beside her.
"What happened to you, Pappa?" she asked as her fingers traced along the words 'Devoted Father.' After a moment she wiped the tears off her cheek and turned her head when she heard fabric blowing in the breeze about twenty yards away. She could see a man in a long coat with a fedora on his head. She eyed him suspiciously and noticing that he seemed to be looking right at her as well. She caught his eye and her eyes began to glow as she realized he may be just walking toward her. She quickly stood up and pulled her sunglasses back out of her breast pocket and put them back on. She turned away from him, putting her hands in her pockets.
She started to walk away for about three steps but then remembered her notepad, turning back and crouching to grab it. She looked back up at the man approaching, watching him for a moment before slowly standing up again. As he got closer she noticed he was huge, linebacker huge. She also noticed the look on his face, he was curious in some way.
Stormy quickly turned away and began to walk away again very briskly, shoving both hands in her pockets. The thought of the man behind her, probably only ten yards away now, made her think he might be one of Luthor's goons. Of course Luthor would send somebody to scout out for her where her parents were buried.
How could you be so stupid, Stormy? she thought.
At least she had her knife.

As he got closer he could see the figure much clearer. He was fairly sure it was her but there was never a trace of her. She vanished when they were searching for her...before her father's death. She looked at him, now he was sure and he started walking more quickly.
He grumble din frustration when she started walking away causing him to quicken his step.
"Hey! Stop! Are you Ira Evening's daughter! Stop! We've been lookin' for you! Gotham Police! Stop! I got questions!"
Where he was his very brief moment with his mother, the chilly Spring evening breeze all forgotten as his focus was now on her. He was on the verge of running to catch her...no. She was already startled, that'd scare her off.
"I said Stop!"

I'M OUT WALKING SHADE( to brush these fires aside )TO CALM THE RISING FIGHT
Stormy turned to him when he said Gotham Police. She stood in a defensive stance, facing him. They were now ten feet away when he yelled stop. She stared at him from under her dark sunglasses. Yeah, he was tall and mean looking.
"You sure, bud? I better see a badge. And even then I can't promise I'll stick around and talk to you. What happened to my father? Why is he under the ground?"
Stormy stood her ground. She was only an inch or two above five feet at full height, didn't looked like she weighed much more than 125lbs. She gritted her teeth a bit, daring the apparent detective to make the wrong move.
Steady, steady.

He reached into the inner pocket of his trench coat. She could see the holster and the .38 within it. He pulled out his wallet and opened it showing his gold badge. It gleamed even in the early evening. He was proud of his station and he polished that badge every night.
"Lt. Harvey Bullock. Detective. I was lead hawkshaw on your disappearance case. Look, kid, I'm sorry about yer old man. He had some nasty dealings with Luthor. He had evidence 'gainst 'im an' he was about to go under protective custody when someone broke in. They say yer dad had a bad ticker, but I'm not so sure."
He reached into his wallet and pulled out a photo of her when she was younger. the last photo taken of her.
"The trail went cold...well, until now. I never gave up though. I have questions, and a lot of them. You have answers I hope."

I'M OUT WALKING SHADE( to brush these fires aside )TO CALM THE RISING FIGHT
Stormy eased up on her defensive stance. She had folded her arms as the policeman talked. She looked at him, unsure of him until he mentioned Luthor. She absent mindedly pressed the bridge of her sunglasses higher up on the bridge of her nose. She knew they were probably glowing like lanterns right now, but she had to settle down before she could let the detective see her eyes up close.
When he pulled the picture of her out of his wallet she stepped closer and yanked it from his hand looking at it more closely. It was her in her fencing giddup minus the mask. When she was a kid she loved watching the old 1957-59 Zorro series Walt Disney had produced that would run late at night in syndication when she was in elementary school. She had taken up fencing and had been very good at it as a matter of fact. She had on black and purple fencing gear. She stood in the picture with her mask under her right arm and her rapier in her left hand, as she was left handed. Her black hair was pulled back in a very neat ponytail with a purple ribbon intertwined in her hair resting on her shoulder. She remembered telling her dad to stop taking so many pictures and he would make lame little jokes to get her to smile. She was fourteen in that picture and now here she stood as a twenty four year old woman in front of the man that had apparently been trying to find her for her father. Hell, he had a photo in his wallet of her.
She could feel tears start to come all at once, but she maintained herself as the moisture rolled down her cheeks down past her sunglasses. She glanced over to her parents' headstone and slipped her hand under her sunglasses to wipe her eyes again.
"You said your name was Bullock?" she asked meekly. Her voice sounded different than before. Softer and much less confrontational. She sounded much like someone who was close to crying really hard, but she kept it back, she sniffed a little.

He hated seeing women cry and shifted his stance and cleared his throat.
"Lt. Bullock. hey are you safe? We can get you protection. Now that i've found ya, I don't want you vanishin' again....at least, until we can close this case."
He tilted the brim of his hat back and put away his wallet, then turned up the collar of his jacket as the world began to grow darker and night approached. He looked around quietly.
"Can we go to the station? This place ain't so...peaceful when the sun's down."
Many bad things went down in the Gotham Cemetery from rituals, to drug deals to the occasional grave robbery. The crazies came out at night and they flocked in the cemetery.

I'M OUT WALKING SHADE( to brush these fires aside )TO CALM THE RISING FIGHT
Stormy nodded her head to him, wiping her eyes again. She naturally did not want to trust anyone, but this man seemed genuine. Again, at least she had her knife. If he was one of Luthor's goons she didn't expect him to be so concerned.
Her tone changed when he mentioned protection.
"I can handle my own back. I need to be in touch with my father's attorney. I believe my father would have left me something like a letter or a note.
That caused an extra tear. She wiped that one away from under her glasses and straightened them back up on her face. She took the picture and handed it back to him.
"Thanks."

He held his hand up refusing the picture with a slight smile.
"I think it means more to you. My car's this way."
He gestured towards where he was parked and urged to to walk ahead of him so he could cover her back. His senses were on alert and carefully watched every shadow as they got to his classic Impala. He opened and shut the door for her and walked around and spied a man in a dark suit not too far away wearing reflective shades. Harvey gave a little growl when he opened his door and climbed in hurriedly slamming his door and starting the engine and began to vacate slightly quicker than normal but not obviously speeding.
"I was right. You had a tail. I saw 'im, an' I think we may have a tag on us in a minute."

I'M OUT WALKING SHADE( to brush these fires aside )TO CALM THE RISING FIGHT Stormy and the Detective were in his car when he mentioned the tail. Her emotions came to screeching halt and she looked back seeing the man in the suit tap his ear and talk into something as he started to run toward a black car. She growled and got her knife out, holding it in her left hand.
"Drive and I'll deal with him. I can guarantee you he has orders to not harm me, but he doesn't have the same orders for you."
She moved into the backseat and rolled down a window. The black car started to get closer. Stormy was watching him through the windows. She held her knife in a stabbing position versus a jabbing position.
"Get us to where ever you're wanting to take me fast. He may try to take shots at your tires or your head. If you just let him get close enough I can take care of him, he'll be less likely to shoot."
She rolled the window down all the way and took her sunglasses off, placing them in her breast pocket once again. The man was gaining on them and he looked like he had a friend in the car with him. Once the man got close enough she launched herself out of the detective's car and landed on the hood of the other car.
Stormy got squared on the hood, the two men inside trying to keep control of the car. She smashed her fist through the windshield and smashed out the rest of the glass around the frame, causing her hand to begin bleeding with many profuse cuts. She pulled the man in the passenger's seat through the windshield and tossed him onto the sidewalk, disrupting the nice afternoon walk some couple was having. She then jumped into the passenger's seat and before the driver could get his gun out she pressed the tip of her knife lightly into his gut, being careful to not break any skin, yet.
"Easy. Don't do anything stupid. If you want to wake up next time you go to sleep I highly recommend that you stop this car right now, let me off, and then turn around. You go straight ot Metropolis and tell Luthor if he wants me he ought to come get me himself. Not to mention that the man driving the car I was just in is a Gotham City Police Detective."
The man thought for a second and then hit his breaks. He put the car in park and looked to her.
"He pays me well, but not enough to get killed or thrown in prison."
Stormy nodded and stepped out of the car. As soon as she got out the man did a haphazard u-turn and picked up the guy that she dumped off down the road. She walked away after watching them take off. She barely noticed the cuts and blood until she put her knife away. She began walking down the road, expecting to spot the detective somewhere down the road or turning around. She looked at her right hand covered in blood.

In a normal city, a normal cop would be freaking out seeing a young woman leap out of a car moving at high speed. But this was Gotham, and the only reaction Bullock managed to give when he saw her vanish from his rear view was....
"Aw cripes, now I gotta turn 'round!"
The smell of burning rubber filled the air as he slammed his brakes and did a 180, his tires bringing forth the putrid white smoke as they obeyed his steering. He had grabbed his radio and was about to call for backup when he spied the girl simply walking up the street. He stopped his car beside her, and noticed her hand was bleeding and pulled out a rolled bandage, rolled down his window and tossed it to her. He looked down the street.
"I'm guessin' you got them. Luthor's clowns?"
He motioned for her to get back in so they could continue the drive to the station.

I'M OUT WALKING SHADE( to brush these fires aside )TO CALM THE RISING FIGHT Stormy smirked just a little bit when the detective asked his question as he tossed her the bandage. She knew she wouldn't need it come morning when the sun was bright and fresh. Her wounds would heal in less than minutes, but the detective didn't have to know about any of that.
She got back in the front passenger's seat, buckling her seat belt and wrapping her hand in the bandage. After a moment she cut the bandage, having what she needed, with her knife and then tied it off.
"Yeah, something like that."
After finishing messing with her bandage she hit buttons on the radio, changing the station and turning it up when she heard something interesting. She stopped on a station playing more current music, she didn't know, but it was Nicky Minaj song. She covered her ears.
"WHAT IS THIS?! WHY IS THIS ON THE RADIO!!!!!"
She hadn't really heard anything current. She changed the station until it stopped on some sort of oldies station. She breathed a big sigh as if she had just caught her breath from seeing something terrifying. She realized that she was doing something she used to do when she was a teenager and her dad would be driving them somewhere, her dad let her mess with the radio unless it fell on something he liked and he would ask her to leave it there so he could hear the song on the station she had stopped on.
She was still stuck on the horror that was current music, though. She shook her head looking out the window.
"If the music sucks that much then maybe the whole world just sucks a lot more."
She put her sunglasses back on, realizing they had started glowing brightly from the shock of the terrible music.

When she started playing with his radio he took a deep breath in and held his tongue. The girl has been having a bad day. he thought he could let it slide....this once. When she hit the current music it's possible his skin may have crawled more than hers. His silent and very quick prayer was answered when she changed the station to an oldies. Although the songs weren't as old as he normally listened to, it was much more tolerable. Bullock enjoyed the hey day of the big band era and the early jazz of Armstrong, Ellington, Miller, Dorsey, Sinatra, Como, and the other Crooners.
He let out a low sigh and let out a small chuckle at her comment on how the world had changed.
"You don't know half of it, kid."
He pulled into the parking garage of the Gotham Police HQ, informing the officer on duty at the garage to keep an eye out for anyone suspicious.
The officer gave him a blank look. "Anyone odd looking who may look to be from out of town." The bulb went off and the officer understood.
Harvey pulled into his usual space. "okay we're here."
