Strong enough? He could juggle a few people her size if he felt like it. Croc raised his arm, dropping her off gently on his shoulder. She'd be steadier, sitting there. No chances of her falling behind aswell. "I don't get sad. Some people are better off on their own." He grumbled a bit, trudling further into the old sewer systems. There should be an exit around here soon enough. Then he wouldn't have to see the kid ever again.
He stopped, if only for a few seconds, when he heard the 'you're nice, let's meet again' comment. He wasn't too sure what he should reply at first, so he decided on; "Don't count on it kid. I'd rather be left alone." Of course he left out the 'you're safer up there.' Partly because he wasn't really good at all this feely-touchy stuff. Partly because he wasn't sure it'd be true. It was a freakin' mad world up there. How anybody could survive that, was beyond his comprehension.
"You just... Head home, and don't come down here again."

”O-okay” was all she could reply though she still didn’t feel like it was okay for Waylon to be so alone. A nice person line him should have people to care for him, just like she had people to care for her. It was nice knowing that someone was there for you.
It was an unpleasant feeling being told that she wasn’t wanted. It gave a tight feeling in her chest, it felt somewhat like one of her seizures. But she knew it wasn’t, her heart was still beating steadily. Just to be sure she placed her hand flat on her chest trying to feel her heart. Sure enough, it was beating exactly like it should. The feeling wasn’t one she knew, and it made the situation seem even more… Confusing. And though she tried to find some words all she could muster was a low ‘Oh’, before turning completely quiet.
This wasn’t the first time sad things had been told her, but the first time that she had been to confused over it. What was this feeling and what made it appear? Perhaps it was because something was wrong with her that it came?
A frown showed on her face along with a thoughtful look in her eyes, while her hand still was placed on her chest. Whatever was on her mind clearly intrigued her, not that her giant companion could see. Even if he had been able to see it, it wouldn’t have made a difference, since masking her feelings had never been something she did.
”I… she paused, her voice sounding like she was about to answer a difficult question. ”I don’t understand it… she continues in a puzzled tone.

Although he couldn't see her, Croc could tell her mood had changed by the way her voice sounded. She wasn't happy at all, not at all. Poor stupid girl didn't realise he was dangerous to be around. How did a creature like this even survive?
"Well..." he began, crawling for a few yards to avoid the low hanging pibes. "It's a bad idea to be around me. I... What, don't tell me you never watch TV? 'Monster in the sewers' 'Ate three people whole' 'Police sent to investigate.' He sighed, standing up again and waddling on. "It's a fucked up life... Besides, i only ate one of them."
They'd be there any moment now. There was a large manhole leading up right into the old city quarters. He used to travel that way when going to the junkyard, but after the incident with the reporter, he stopped going. Not worth the risk.
"Here we are. Just head home to your sisters and that Joe guy." He reached up and lifted her off his shoulders, placing her softly on the ground next to him. "And don't... Come back" he uttered, looking down at her with a mixture of determination and distress. Obviously, he didn't feel too sure about... Well, what he felt.

”I can’t see why you should be bad to be around… Even if you eat people… Isn’t it just like we eat animals to live? Unless you intend to eat me… That might be bad, but I don’t think you want to eat me…” slightly her eyes turned to look at him, trying to figure out what he tried to tell her.
She landed on the ground, looking up at him not knowing what to do with herself. Her gaze slowly turned down, before she slowly started fumbling with her teddy. It made her sad to think that he didn’t want to be her friend, and she still wasn’t sure why. Perhaps she had done something wrong… Was it because he didn’t like her?
Carefully she stepped a little closer, placing her teddy on top of his hand. ”Well then Mr. Lynch will take care of you instead of me… It was nice meeting you..” she said in a slightly sad tone, before she gave him a short smile and turned towards the stairs. She was on her way to step up the first step, when she stopped. ”If you ever want to talk I will gladly talk with you…”

Waylon blinked his eyes slowly. He had never really thought about i like that. Still, eating people never were the best way to make friends. Nobody likes to get eaten. Or, well, there probably were a few crazies around city that had a fantasy like that.
He clicked his tongue a bit watching the girl. Seeing that sad frown on her face must've cracked his shell, if only a tiny bit. Look kid, i don't hate you. You're, uh, fine. But you'll get hurt around here. Everybody gets hurt around here.
But then he went awful quiet. Just standing there, staring at the little toy animal, sitting awkwardly in the palm of his right hand. He opened and shut his mouth a couple of times, like a fish on ground trying to inhale the air (to no obvious succes). Eventually he just nodded. "Mr. Lynch" he mumbled, looking up at the girl, on her way back to the surface. "I'll... Remember that..."

Slowly the little girl started crawling up the stairs, thankful that the lid was open otherwise she would never had had the strength to move it. Well it probably wasn’t impossible to get him to open it, but still.
She stopped a little before the end looking down at him.
”I don’t mind getting hurt around my friends… As long as they are still my friend I don’t mind it.” she said quietly giving him a little smile, before continuing out the lid, and crawled up the street.
Once again she feel uncomfortable as people started walking by her, and she had no teddy to protect her, since it was now giving to protect someone else. So instead she started to run, trying to get to a safe place faster. Before or later she would get home, since she at least knew how to find her way around the city. A little bit at least.

He watched the girl crawl. The last thing he saw, was the fringes of her Lolita dress and the pretty black shoes, disappearing into the night above. With a swift movement, he reached up to the surface, dragging the lid back in its place with a slight clonk.
In the dark, he stared at the lid. There, with a piece of metal, he'd cut off the world again. No more people, no more noises, and no one to laugh at him. Waylon held up the teddy bear in front of his face, sniffing it slightly. For a moment, he was tempted to just throw it in the sewers and forget about him. It! He meant it, of course. But alas, he couldn't.
With a heavy sigh, he turned his corpus towards home, mumbling to the teddy; "Hell Lynch, i don't know how you put up with that girl..."
